MAY 25, 2008 - A LOVELY DAY OF WORSHIP AND FELLOWSHIP The homecoming service and program were rich with celebration, tributes, and the sharing of fond memories of Lower Peach Tree. Enjoying this happy, sunny day were about 125 regular worshippers. We also welcomed around 20 newcomers. We hope our first-time visitors will become "regulars" in the future joining those who can claim almost perfect attendance over a period of many years.
MEMORIAL DAY Coinciding with the national holiday weekend, our service showed a patriotic flavor with wreaths decorating the church entrance, repetition of the Pledge of Allegiance, and the singing of "God Bless America." This wreath, made of lovely fresh flowers, was created by Thomas Hale and placed in memory of Donald Walker, a homecomer with an almost perfect attendance record. BICENTENNIAL
Recognition of the Bicentennial of Methodism in Alabama included the reading of a proclamation signed by Gov. Bob Riley last January. ![]() See Phebe Lee displaying the governor's proclamation. |
PASTOR O'BRYANT The 2007 Christmas Candlelight Service included a tribute to our beloved former pastor, Jimmy R. O'Bryant, who died last November. Rev. Charles Wimberly leads the offertory prayer. THEME - PRECIOUS MEMORIES
Always a highlight of homecoming are the contributions of our pastor and congregation.
The sermon, "Precious Memories Flood our Souls," was a perfect expression of this year's theme. PHOTO GALLERY 2008 Thanks to Becky Cotton and Lida Landreth, two faithful photographers, for your work to preserve memories of the HC activities and to allow those who could not be present to view some of the events online.
